What story from your wild-and-crazy youth would nobody believe about you today?
This is one is easy. I think. No one who knows me today would believe that my & my now ex-husband were on the run from the law and hitchhiked from Maryland to Florida. And I was pregnant with my now 19 year old daughter. It doesn't sound all that impressive but it was an adventure. I'm so boring now I can't believe I went through all the shit. We went to my ex's friend who happened be waiting trial for dealing huge amounts of cocaine. It was only the 2nd or 3rd time we went there AND I swear I wasn't junkie. But my ex was. Yeah, he wasn't the best choice for a boyfriend or husband. We drove to Maryland from Colorado where my ex had gotten into some legal trouble. The plan was to stay a few days in Maryland and move to Florida. But, my ex got arrested for suspected burglaries. I stupidly believed he was innocent. Yeah, I was dumb back then. He was using an alias and I had to bail him out using a bondsman really quick or they would've found out his true idenity. I did but when he was arrested, our car was impounded so we had no way to get to FLA. We couldn't exactly stay with his drug dealing buddy because eventually they'd know who he was. So we started our long trip to hitchhike to FLA with nothing but a stamp collection that he swore he "found." Guess I believed him because I wanted to. It was an adventure and there were times when I didn't think we'd make it but we did and my 19 year old daughter was born in Tampa, FLA. I think I'll end the story there even though they were some wild times in FLA too. *grin* Now, I don't drink, smoke, or do any illegal drugs. My idea of fun is going to Borders and reading shonenai. When did I become such a geek?
How many bones have you broken? Yours or someone else's?
I've only broken one bone *knocks on wooden desk* so far but it sucked. It was my collar bone. I didn't know it was broken and had to ware a harness type thing for months. Luckily it finally healed and I didn't have to get it re-broken. I was lucky enough to break it on vacation in Texas. Broken bones /= fun vacation.
Okay so I'm still on the diet. I'm going to post my progress or lack of it
Pros - I'm not hungry and like the variety of food I can eat.
Cons - Cost. Buying new types of foods & trying to have enough veggies on-hand is expensive. It is so much easier and cheaper to just eat a high carb/high fat diet. Trying to get 5 servings of veggies is difficult. I have been doing it for the most part.
Friday & the weekend
Pretty much stuck to eating low GI foods for most of the time. It is hardest when I'm lazy and don't feel like cooking. I had a sandwhich and raw veggies for dinner. Also cheated and ate a few (very few) potatoe oven fries just because I had made them for my son. The hardest part is late night snacking. I don't know when that bad habit started but I have to stop eating after midnight. I wake up several times a night and impuslively eat something sweet: lowfat pudding, icecream, etc. I have to stop. Or at least get something very low calorie to munch on.
Saturday
Breakfast - broccoli/ricotta omelet with glass of milk. Yum.
Lunch - Peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich on whole grain bread & milk.
Dinner - I so didn't feel like cooking so I ate Special-K cereal & had a carmel apple.
Snacks - fat-free pudding
Sunday
Breakfast - Special K with milk
Lunch - BLT sandwich on whole grain bread
Snack - oatmeal cookies
Dinner - sweet & sour meatballs, rice, green beans, orange
Snacks - lowfat icecream (1 cup), oatmeal cookies (3)
Today
Breakfast - SpecialK with bannana & 1/2 cup milk
Snack - 1 serving of soy nuts
Lunch - Lean Cuiseinne (chicken, rice, & veggies)
Dinner - Shrimp, spinach, raw veggies
Snack - rice pudding
Exericise
Last week I went on 2 walks. Guess that is better than what I was doing which was nothing. This week I'll do at least 3 and try to do a 15 minutes workout.
After wayyyyyyyy too long I've decided that I'm going to seriously try to lose weight. No. Really. I. am. I'm going to use this journal as my diet/progress journal. You know where I put all the boring stuff like what I eat and the excercise I managed to get done. I have to do this for my kids. They need me and being overweight just isn't healthy sooooo I'm going to do it.
I bought the book, the Low GI Diet Revolution it isn't so much a diet as a healthy and sensible way of eating for life. It seems like something I can really do. The Southbeach Diet works great for some but it's not something I can stay on. I love my carbs too much. I need my cereal in the morning. And there are times when I must have a sandwich. This diet is about balance. It bases your number of servings on your current weight. Under my plan I am allowed 4 servings of bread per day, 5 servings of veggies, 2 fruit, and 4 protein. And I'm even allowed to have a serving of low-fat icecream. *Yay!* So yeah, I think I can do it. After about a day on it, I do feel better. I can feel that my insulin levels are on keel and not all up & down. So yeah, I'm going to do this. The other part is exercise. It is required to do both aerobic (walking/running/biking) at least 4 times per week for 20 minutes. I've been walking at work during lunch. And I need to do some resistance exerices 2X per week. Haven't done them yet but I will.
Soooo, everyday I'll post what I eat and the exercises I complete. Yes.
So my inner geek made me get a Vox blog even though I barely keep up with my LJ . Well, actually I've been wanting to start a blog where to review/summarize different fansubbed animes or manga on a semi-regular basis. Yes, I am a total geek. I'll probably wait till I get done with my vacation and Otakon. Can't believe I'm actually going to go to Otakon, the day after I get back from the mountains. I must be insane.
I have started writing again after taking pretty much a very long break. Most of my writing is Hellsing fan fiction but I kind fo got uninspired. Blood+ has inspired me to write again. Yes, I have a thing for vampires. Especially the bishonen ones.
Well look on the bright side...the picture uploads and the fave video/audio/book sections are pretty nice......I only saw the Blood... read more
